How to Set up a PIN for Netflix Profiles

Netflix is rolling out new changes to its app, which will allow you to set a passcode specific to your profile. This change comes as part of a bigger set of Netflix updates meant to improve parental controls. Even if you do not have children being able to set a PIN will also help keep others in the house from using your profile. Of course, all Netflix accounts are password-protected, but each Netflix account can have multiple different profiles for each user. You might share your Netflix account with the family, and each family member can have their own profile. With the new changes Netflix is rolling out, each individual profile can have a four-digit PIN.

Currently, iOS device users can enable set this PIN through a browser, but not in the Netflix app for iPhone or iPad. After you activate the PIN, you will be prompted for it across all platforms, including the Netflix app for their Apple devices.

How to add a PIN to your Netflix profile

To find enable the PIN for your profile follow these steps:

1. 1. Navigate to the Netflix website, hover the mouse over your profile icon at the top-right corner of the screen, and click "Account".
   2. Look under Profile & Parental Controls and select the arrow to the right of the profile you want to put a PIN on.
   3. Press the "Change" button located to the right of "Profile Lock." It will be set to "Off" by default.
   4. Enter your Netflix password when prompted. Note: If other people use your account they could come to this page and change or remove the PIN just like you.
   5. Put a check in the box that says "Require a PIN to access [Name]'s profile" and enter a four-digit numerical passcode.
   6. Enable "Require [Name]'s PIN to add new profiles." This will block people from creating new profiles on your Netflix account unless they know your PIN.
   7. Press the "Save" button to activate your new PIN.
   8. When you've finished open the menu and select "Exit Profile" to sign out of your profile.

There. Now whenever someone tries to use a locked profile, they will have to enter your selected PIN before they can access it.

The changes to Netflix's parental controls also allow you to filter content by age rating based on profiles. To do so press the "Change" button next to "Viewing restrictions" located above the "Profile lock" option.
