How To Use Microsoft Edge On A Mac
If for some reason you find yourself needing to run a PC-centric browser on a Mac, such as Microsoft's Edge browser, you have several options to consider, some of them easier than others.
The first and most obvious choice is to download the version of Microsoft Edge built and compiled for Macs. The original release of Edge for Macs took place in 2020 and has since been updated. This option is the easiest and quickest, but you can consider the ones below if you do not want to install Edge for some reason and just need to test how a specific page would open in the Edge browser.
The second easiest option, which may not fully suit your needs, is simply simulating Edge from inside your Safari browser. To do that, you can open Safari's "Preferences" menu, then click "Advanced". Next, put a checkmark in the box labeled "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
Once you've done this, you will find a new item in Safari's menu bar on top, called "Develop". Click the new menu, hover over "User agent" in the menu and select the browser you want to emulate, in this case - Edge. Current versions of macOS no longer have the option to emulate the Internet Explorer browser in this way, as the Internet Explorer browser is on end-of-life support and will reach this point in mid-2022.
Another option you have is virtualization. If you install a virtual machine application, you will be able to set up a partition that will allow you to run Windows on your Mac in a way that is practically indistinguishable from a normal Windows install. This method requires more effort and time, and installing, setting up, and tweaking a Windows virtual machine on your Mac is well beyond the scope of this article.
