Apple Notes is a handy note-taking app that can be synced across all of your Apple devices, which makes it very convenient for the people who work on multiple devices. One of its most prominent features is that you can use it with all kinds of account types aside from iCloud, such as Google or Outlook.

How to add an account to Apple Notes on Mac

1. Open the Notes app and click Accounts.
2. Choose the account type you want on the right (or select Add Other Account).
3. Follow the prompts to sign in, verify, and add the account.
4. Put a tick in the Notes checkbox along with any other apps you'd like to use the account for such as Mail or Calendar.

When you open the Notes app, you will see your new account in the left sidebar. Press the Show Folders button in the toolbar if you can't see the sidebar.

How to deactivate an account in Apple Notes on Mac

It's possible to disable your Notes account without deleting it permanently so that you can continue using other apps linked to the account, like Mail and Calendar. Here's how:

1. Open the Notes app and select Accounts.
2. Click on your account.
3. Remove the check from Notes in the list of available apps.
4. Your account should be gone from the Notes sidebar.

You can always reactivate your Notes account if you wish to use it again. Just put a check next to notes in the list of available apps.

How to remove an account from Apple Notes on Mac

You can also completely remove an account from Notes if you want to. However, this means you won't be able to use that account for other apps like Mail and Calendar either. If you want to completely delete a Notes account just follow these steps:

1. Open the Notes app and select Accounts.
2. Select the account you want to delete.
3. Press the minus sign button at the bottom of the list.
4. Confirm that you want to remove the account when prompted by clicking OK.

How to add an account to Apple Notes on iPhone/iPad

To add an account to Notes that you have not set up yet on your iOS device, follow these steps.

1. Launch the Settings app and select Password & Accounts.
2. Scroll to the bottom and tap Add Account.
3. Choose the account type or tap Add Other Account.
4. Enable the toggle for Notes and any other apps you want to use.

How to deactivate an account in Apple Notes on iPhone/iPad

You can disable a Notes account on your iOS device just as easily as on your Mac computer, but your notes will be deleted, so keep that in mind.

1. Launch the Settings app again and tap on Password & Accounts.
2. Find the account you wish to disable and toggle it off for Notes.
3. Tap Delete from my iPhone/iPad to confirm that you understand your notes on this device will be permanently deleted.

To reactivate the account simply toggle it on from Passwords & Accounts.

You can delete your Notes account permanently, but this will also affect other apps that used the account, so keep that in mind.

1. Go to the Settings and select Password & Accounts.
2. Find the account you wish to remove and tap Delete Account.
