How to Avoid Trending-celebs.com Pop-Up Ads

Trending-celebs dot com is a lazily thrown together misleading website. The sole purpose of this and other misleading sites like it is to get users to accept push notifications and use this functionality to push ads to the user's browser, generating revenue for the website owner in the process.

Trending-celebs dot com will display an image of a fake streaming video player on its page. The video is supposedly inaccessible before the user clicks "allow" in the dialog box that appears. This is simply the browser's default push notifications permission dialog.

Clicking "allow" in that interface will give Trending-celebs dot com permission to spam the user's browser with intrusive and potentially harmful ads. A lot of the time misleading sites such as Trending-celebs dot com will partner with rogue ad networks. This means that the ads pushed to the user's browser may link to malicious pages, questionable content and further misleading websites.

The simplest and best solution when it comes to avoiding the ad spam that this type of misleading site spreads is to simply close the tab immediately after you land on the page.
