'Home Improvement Reward' Scam
The 'Home Improvement Reward' Scam is a browser-based con, which tries to trick users into thinking that they are eligible to claim a $90 promo reward from Lowe's. You can rest assured that the major chain has nothing to do with these messages, and there is no reward to be claimed – the scam is run by anonymous con artists who use it to steal money and personal information from users.
The 'Home Improvement Reward' Scam may show up in your browser when you click a link in a spam email or when you browse non-trustworthy websites. The page hosting the scam says that users have claimed $4,000,000 in rewards already and that you have just six minutes before the offer expires. Fraudulent pages like this one often include a countdown, which makes users think that they are about to miss out and inclines them to follow the steps as soon as possible.
This scam is very similar to the 'Verizon Reward' Scam – it seems that the same group of criminals may be behind both of those since they use identical websites. The only differences are the color scheme and the logos used. If you encounter either of these scams, you should quit the page immediately since there are no rewards to be claimed.
