Godox Ransomware Removal
The VoidCrypt Ransomware family appears to be very active at the start of 2022 – we have already reported over a dozen variations of the threat circulating online. The latest addition to the list is the Godox Ransomware and, unfortunately, it is also impossible to decipher for free – just like its predecessors. The criminals behind this project may propagate with the help of fake downloads and bogus email attachments, or pirated software and games. In addition to avoiding such shady content, you should also enhance your system's protection against malware by using a reliable antivirus software suite.
The Godox Ransomware attack is executed very swiftly – victims may lose access to their files in just a few minutes. The Godox Ransomware will append the suffix '.(<VICTIM ID>)(Folperdock@gmail.com).Godox' to all files it locks. Furthermore, it creates the ransom message 'Decryption-guide.txt' on the desktop. Last but not least, Godox Ransomware has the ability to delete Shadow Volume Copies and System Restore Points, further reducing the victim's recovery options.
Just like other ransomware attacks, this one also ends with ransom demands. The criminals ask for a Bitcoin payment, promising to provide a decryption service in return. However, there is no proof that their decryptor exists & works. Furthermore, there is nothing stopping them from taking payments without helping the victim. Trying to negotiate with the criminals is a bad idea, and you should not consider it – you are likely to get scammed after paying.
Victims of the Godox Ransomware should remove the malware by running a reputable antivirus tool. After this, experiment with popular data recovery options.
