Fix Discord is Stuck on Gray Screen by Refreshing the App
This fix is very easy to try, and it seems to have a very good success rate.
- Load Discord and press Control + Shift + I to load the Dev Tools menu.
- Select the Network tab and then check the Disable Cache option.
- Apply the changes, and press Control + R to reload Discord.

Use Windows Compatibility Mode for Discord
Quit the Discord app completely either through the Task Manager or by right-clicking its icon and selecting Quit Discord. Then, right-click the Discord icon you use to launch the app and head to Properties. Go to the Compatibility tab and enable the option Run this program in compatibility mode for. Then, choose an older Windows version, apply the changes, and re-launch the app.
Clean the Discord Folder in %APPDATA%
Discord stores some configuration and cached files in a hidden Windows directory. Deleting it might fix serious issues like Discord is Stuck on Gray Screen.
- First, close Discord completely. Check the Task Manager to make sure it is not running
- Press Control + R and enter %APPDATA% in the new window.
- Find the directory called Discord and delete it.
- Re-launch the app. It may need to download some files initially.
Reinstall Discord
