Beware of 'Pending Messages On Our Remote Server' Scam

Yet another online scam is trying to defraud users, and it is once again being distributed using malicious spam emails.

The latest scam is named the "Pending Messages On Our Remote Server" scam and focuses on an old and tried trick - trying to get victims to believe that their email's virtual pipes have been clogged up and they need to take action to receive their messages.

The scam's full text goes as follows:

You have pending messages on our remote server.

To: [victim address]

Sent: 9/25/2022 7:09:59 p.m.

Your messages(6) unread in our cloud that was not delivered to your Mailbox due to error during imap server timeout, resolve it now below;

RELEASE UNDELIVERED MAILS

Clicking the "RELEASE UNDELIVERED MAILS" button in the scam email will take the user to a phishing page, styled to look like an email login portal. Entering your email credentials here will simply hand them over into the hands of the bad actors running the scam and your email will be compromised and effectively stolen.

Remember to be extra careful with any unsolicited mail and never click any suspicious links in them.
