Beware of the 'DHL e-Shipping Invoice Scam'
There is a new email-focused scam being distributed online. The new attempt to scam people is called the "DHL e-shipping invoice scam".
Like many similar scams, this one abuses the name of a popular brand, in this case, DHL, to lend an air of credibility to the fake email.
The scam's text goes as follows:
We shipped your order DHL/USPS Tracking #: [numeric string]
DHL Go Global Global Resources Shipping Support
e-Shipping Invoice
This is to notify you that your shipping invoice is ready for download
See attached file to get more details about your shipment.
For inquiry and complaints, please logon to shipping portal to reach an agent
Deutsche Post DHL Groupo
The scam email contains a malicious HTML file, which is supposed to be the "shipping portal". Opening the file brings up a fake login form that will harvest and steal the victim's credentials.
Be very careful with unsolicited emails that end up in your inbox, never open unsolicited attachments and be very careful about online scams to avoid credential theft and the privacy issues that stem from it.
