'AMAZON TRIAL' Scam Promises Expensive but Fake Rewards
There is a new scam that is being pushed through different misleading websites. The new scam has been named the "Amazon Trial" scam.
It should be noted that Amazon, the legitimate company, has nothing to do with those scam pages or their content. The gist of the scam is that when victims land on the page running the scam campaign, they are told they can fill in a short survey and win an expensive, new iPhone 13.
This is all a scam. There is no reward waiting for you on the page. The site simply abuses Amazon imagery and branding to lend some legitimacy to its empty promises.
Going through with the survey will refer users to new pages that will attempt to get users to allow push notifications, which will later be used to push ads. In most similar "fill in the survey" scams, users are ultimately referred to a page that will ask for either personally identifiable information or some sort of fake "shipping" or "service" fee to allegedly send the non-existent reward.
Be aware of ransom domains that push similar scams, always double-check the address of the page you are on and be aware of the simple rule of thumb - there is no such thing as a free lunch, especially online.
