Unpollute My Mac is the name of a potentially unwanted application that you may suddenly find on your Mac with no recollection of ever encountering or installing it. The way similar potentially unwanted apps get on your system is usually through a bundle installer that carries several apps, one of which may be legitimate.
Unpollute My Mac will pose as a system tune-up and optimization application. The app will perform what seems to be a scan of your system and display a number of made-up errors, including a number of "dangerous" website it claims you have visited. The app uses social engineering to scare the user into thinking he may have accidentally stumbled upon pornography websites and offers a "solution" to clean all traces of those visits.
The first reaction of a regular user to similar messages is not to think about whether they have really been on any pornography sites or whether any of those alleged issues with their system are real, but to try and immediately find a solution. Unpollute My Mac will offer what it claims to be a solution, but only after the user pays for the "full version" of the app.
Given that the issues the potentially unwanted app comes up with are largely made-up, the solution is equally unneeded. The only thing you will me doing by purchasing the full version of the app is generating revenue for Unpollute My Mac and receiving a fake "fix" you never needed, because the app came up with a list of made-up issues.
The way similar potentially unwanted apps end up on your system without your knowledge is usually through bundle installers. Those are software bundles containing multiple apps, commonly downloaded from free download websites. Those bundles have notoriously poor disclosure of their full contents and often have potentially unwanted application piggy-backing alongside a legitimate app in them.
