Troubleshooting iCloud Error Messages on Mac

iCloud is an amazing service that all owners of Apple devices can make use of. It comes in handy when you want to create and manage backups, synchronize accounts, share data between devices, and much more. In addition to this, it works in the background to keep your data, connections, and credentials as safe as they can be.

However, as helpful as it is, it is not free of bugs and issues. Error messages triggered by iCloud are not that uncommon, and learning how to troubleshoot them is strongly recommended. But what is the primary problem that troubles iCloud users?

iCloud Asks for My Password Repeatedly

One issue that some users encounter is seeing an iCloud login prompt regularly – even if they are already logged in. This minor annoyance is bothersome, but it will not prevent iCloud from working. Of course, this does not mean that you should ignore it – here are some of the things to try in order to fix this problem:

  1. Apply system updates by going to Apple Menu -> About This Mac -> Software Update.
  2. Re-enter your passwords by going to Apple Menu -> System Preferences _> Apple ID and completing the password prompts.
  3. Enable keychain access by going to Preferences -> Apple ID -> Keychain and enable it. Restart your Mac. Get more familiar with the service by learning How to Use iCloud Keychain to Manage Your Password on iPhone and iPad.
  4. Reset iCloud authorization by going to Preferences -> Apple ID -> Overview. Opt to Sign Out and then try to log back in.

Some alternatives things to try include changing your account password, rebooting your device, or changing your account's email address.
