Remove ZuCaNo Ransomware

ZuCaNo Ransomware is a new threat whose creators are spreading it on the Internet through various tricks and methods. For example, they might try to deliver the payload through fake installers and updaters, typically being promoted through shady ads. In other cases, targets of the ZuCaNo Ransomware might receive a malicious email attachment carrying the implant. Since ZuCaNo Ransomware's attack can come from just about anywhere, the best way to keep your system safe is to use automated security tools. Running a reputable anti-malware application should be more than enough to deter ransomware threats like this one.

But what happens if you fail to stop the ZuCaNo Ransomware? Once this ransomware infiltrates a system successfully, it will immediately carry out a devastating file-encryption attack. The threat locks a wide range of files, including documents, images, videos, archives, databases, and more. Whenever it locks a file, it will apply a change to its name by adding the extension '.ZuCaNo.'

Unfortunately, victims may have a hard time recovering the encrypted data. There is no free tool able to reverse ZuCaNo Ransomware's encryption. The only reliable way to do so is to restore the files from a backup, but this option might not be available to many ransomware victims.

The criminals behind the attack propose a recovery solution via their message titled 'HOW TO DECRYPT FILES.txt.' The ZuCaNo Ransomware drops this file only after completing its attack. According to the document, victims can purchase a decryptor in exchange for 0.03 Bitcoin. They are told to message zucano@tuta.io after sending the ransom payment.

ZuCaNo Ransomware Ransom Note

Unfortunately, there is no proof that ZuCaNo Ransomware's creators are trustworthy – even if you pay the sum, there is no guarantee that you will receive a decryption tool. It is not uncommon for ransomware operators to scam their victims or, even worse, to try and extort them for more money after getting one payment. If the ZuCaNo Ransomware has taken over your system, we suggest running an antivirus tool immediately. It will ensure the threat's full removal. After you do this, you can proceed to restore from a backup or use other data recovery options.
