Xbtl Ransomware Uses Djvu Code
There is a brand new ransomware strain in the wild, called the Xbtl ransomware. It belongs to the family of Djvu ransomware variants.
Xbtl encrypts the targeted system, leaving files scrambled. Encrypted file types include almost every media, document, archive and database file type you can think of. Once encrypted, files receive the ".xbtl" extension, hence the name of the ransomware.
This will transform a file named "image.png" into "image.png.xbtl" upon successful encryption.
