What is Tohj Ransomware?

Tohj ransomware is a newly discovered ransomware strain based on the older Djvu ransomware. Like most recent Djvu variants, the ransomware's name is made up of four randomly chosen letters.

Tohj will encrypt most files on the system, appending the ".tohj" to them. Affected files include media extensions, documents, archives and executables. The encryption process will turn a file called "document.txt" into "document.txt.tohj".

When encryption completes, the ransomware deposits its ransom demands inside a file called "_readme.txt". The full ransom note's contents are as follows:
