What is StormByte Ransomware?
The StormByte Ransomware is a file-locking malware that uses two strong encryption methods, DES and 3DES, to prevent crucial media files from opening. When a file is encrypted by the StormByte Ransomware, the only way to decrypt it is if the computer user has a backup of it. Therefore, computer users should always have updated backups of their data, which should be kept on other devices for security against threat attacks and a trustable anti-malware tool capable of removing the StormByte Ransomware as soon as possible.
The StormByte Ransomware belongs to a small family, the Nominatus Ransomware family. Unlike most file-locker Trojans, it doesn't change the names of the blocked files; they remain the same. When the file encryption is done, the StormByte Ransomware will generate its ransom note, which will be presented to the user as a pop-up window. On that note, the victims will find only an email address, Nominatus666@proton.me, that they can use to contact the threat developers. There's no ransom amount or offers to decrypt a few files to prove that they can reverse the damage done. The StormByte Ransomware's infection strategies are very common. It can use corrupted e-mail attachments, manipulated advertisements, torrent websites and even brute-force-based infiltrations.
