Solo Ransomware Joins VoidCrypt Family of Malware
Solo ransomware is a newly discovered variant of the VoidCrypt ransomware.
Solo does virtually nothing different compared to other recent VoidCrypt clones. The ransomware encrypts most files on the victim's system and leaves them in an unreadable state. Documents, databases, media files and archives are all encrypted.
Encrypted files receive a multi-part new extension containing the victim ID string, the email used by the Solo operator and and ".solo" string. This will turn a file called "document.txt" into "document.txt.(victim ID)(decryptionfiles@gmail.com).solo".
The ransom note is delivered inside a file called "unlock-info.txt" and goes as follows:
