1More Ransomware Joins VoidCrypt Family

The fittingly named 1More ransomware is the latest arrival to expand the already large family of ransomware clones based on VoidCrypt ransomware code.

The new strain does nothing particularly notable in terms of how it operates. 1More will encrypt files on the victim system, leaving them unreadable. Encrypted files receive a multi-part new extension that consists of the victim ID string, the contact email used by 1More's operator and the ".1more" string.

This means that an encrypted file that was formerly called "document.txt" will turn into "document.txt.(ID string)(1moredec@gmail.com).1more". The encryption process will affect almost every media, document, database or archive file type.

The ransom note is deposited inside a text file named "unlock-info.txt". The full note is as follows:
