SilentAnonymous Ransomware Demands $1500
Our team identified the SilentAnonymous ransomware during an examination of new file submissions. This malicious software is specifically designed to encrypt data and demand payment in exchange for providing decryption.
On our test machine, SilentAnonymous successfully encrypted files and modified their titles. The original filenames were extended with a ".SILENTATTACK" suffix. For instance, a file originally named "1.jpg" now appeared as "1.jpg.SILENTATTACK," and the same pattern applied to other locked files such as "2.png" becoming "2.png.SILENTATTACK."
After completing the encryption process, the ransomware not only changed the desktop wallpaper but also deposited a message titled "Silent_Anon.txt" demanding payment. The desktop wallpaper informed victims that their essential documents, photos, and other important files had been encrypted. The accompanying text file ("Silent_Anon.txt") contained additional details about the ransomware infection.
According to the message, recovering the encrypted files required the payment of a ransom for the decryption tool, set at $1,500 in Bitcoin cryptocurrency. However, it is important to note that the specified Bitcoin amount does not align with the current conversion rate, which may vary due to constant fluctuations.
