Remove Sick Ransomware
The Sick Ransomware is a file-locker being distributed online via fake downloads, malicious advertisements, email spam, and even fake social media pages and posts. The goal of this file-encryption Trojan is to gain access to the files of its victim and then apply strong encryption to them. Unfortunately, there is no free tool that can help decipher files that the Sick Ransomware locks – this means that victims of this ransomware attack may have a hard time restoring access to their files. Currently, the best option when it comes to recovering from this ransomware's attack is to restore the files from a backup.
After a successful infection, the Sick Ransomware will mark the files it locks with the suffix '.sick.' It then drops the ransom message 'HELP.txt' on the desktop. Typically, this file contains the full message of the criminals, but the only thing victims will find in it is a link to GhostBin, an online text storage service. The GhostBin page, however, contains the full note of Sick Ransomware's creators. They ask the victim to pay $100 via Bitcoin and promise them that their data will be restored automatically after the payment is made. However, there is no guarantee that this will happen. Furthermore, there is no contact details that can be used to get in touch with the perpetrators. It will not be a surprise if the crooks behind the Sick Ransomware end up ignoring users who decide to pay the ransom sum.
If your files have been locked by the Sick Ransomware, you should use an anti-malware service to dispose of the malicious program immediately. This will stop it from encrypting new files but will not undo any of the damage it was already able to cause. You should try to recover your files from a backup or by using suitable data recovery tools.
