Is the Rtgf Ransomware Decryptable?

ransomware encrypt key

The STOP/Djvu Ransomware family continues to be one of the number one threats for the average computer users. It has been used to craft hundreds of file-locker variants that are spread via all sorts of means. One of the latest versions based on STOP is the Rtgf Ransomware. Its creators are distributing it via fake downloads, pirated games, software activators, and other dubious files. It is also possible for the payload to reach you through a phishing email that urges you to download a file attachment. The Rtgf Ransomware attack is guaranteed to render your files inaccessible, and then extort you for money.

Just like other STOP/Djvu variants, this one also uses a simple extension to mark files it locks – '.rtgf.' After it finishes encrypting and marking files, it proceeds to create the '_readme.txt' ransom note. It advises victims to send $490 worth of Bitcoin to the criminals. It also assures them that victims who agree to pay will receive a working decryption tool.

We advise you not to trust Rtgf Ransomware's operators. Even if you send them the money, they might still opt to scam you and not provide you with a decryptor. We also know of cases where paying victims were told to send money after the first transaction – ransomware operators will not hesitate to extort you for as much money as possible.

If the Rtgf Ransomware has taken over your system, you should run an antivirus scanner to terminate it. After this, start restoring from a backup or explore other data recovery solutions.
