Non (Phobos) Ransomware
There is a newly discovered ransomware strain in the wild and it has a somewhat confusing name. The new ransomware is called simply "Non" and it belongs to the family of Phobos ransomware clones.
Once deployed on a system, the Non ransomware will encrypt most non-essential files, including media, document and archive extensions. Once encrypted, the files receive a multi-part new extension that consists of the victim's ID, the contact email used by the ransom operator and the ".Non" extension.
This means that a file formerly called "document.txt" will transform into "document.txt.id[alphanumeric string].[noname@mailc.net].Non".
The ransom notes are deployed in both a brief text file and a much more verbose pop-up window displaying a .hta file. The full contents of the pop-up window are as follows:
