Remove NetFunctionSearch

NetFunctionSearch may sound like an app that has your best interests in mind by enhancing your searching experience. In reality, though, it is a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) that runs on Macs. Users may install it accidentally when interacting with fake downloads, software bundles, misleading ads, or other dubious content. Thankfully, NetFunctionSearch is not dangerous, and it cannot threaten your online privacy or safety. However, it is able to perform other tasks that are intrusive, annoying, and fairly difficult to deal with.

How Does NetFunctionSearch Operate?

The goal of this program is to run on your Mac, and then create a new 'Launch Agent' to grant itself persistence. Whenever it runs, it will check your Web browser settings to make sure that it is using a specific new tab page and search engine. These values might be automatically corrected by the NetFunctionSearch PUP in case you try changing them. By doing so, this software triggers unwanted redirects, and artificially boosts the traffic that the website it promotes generates.

The developers of NetFunctionSearch are also likely to be the administrators of the websites that this software promotes. By boosting their traffic, they can generate more ad revenue. However, all this happens at the expense of your Web browsing experience. Because of the NetFunctionSearch redirects, you might have a difficult time finding relevant search results, or navigating the Web efficiently.

If you are noticing the aforementioned changes on your Mac, then we suggest checking your list of Applications for any suspicious entries. In case you notice NetFunctionSearch or similar apps like UpgradeSearchView and SoloProcess, you should ensure their removal by running a reputable anti-malware application.
