We have identified Nbwr as a type of ransomware associated with the Djvu family. Upon examination, it was found that Nbwr encrypts data, alters filenames by adding the ".nbwr" extension, and generates a text file named "_readme.txt" containing a ransom message.

An illustration of Nbwr's file renaming process is demonstrated by changing "1.jpg" to "1.jpg.nbwr," "2.png" to "2.png.nbwr," and so forth. It is noteworthy that Djvu ransomware, including Nbwr, is often distributed alongside information stealing malware.

The ransom note assures the victim that their encrypted files, encompassing images, databases, and documents, can be restored by acquiring a decrypt tool and a unique key. As a demonstration of their decryption capabilities, the attackers offer to decrypt one file for free, provided it does not contain valuable information.
