What is Mmvb Ransomware?

Security researchers discovered yet another spinoff of the Djvu ransomware. The newest clone is called the Mmvb ransomware.

Mmvb encrypts victim systems, leaving most files on them scrambled. Encrypted files receive the ".mmvb" extension appended after their original one. This process will turn a file originally named "document.doc" into "document.doc.mmvb" upon successful encryption.

Encryption affects all media, document, archive and database file types.

Once the ransomware finishes encrypting the target system, it drops its ransom demands inside a plain text file named "_readme.txt" - the same as every Djvu clone. The layout and text of the note use the usual Djvu template as well. The full note goes as follows:
