Remove Igvm Ransomware

Variants of the STOP Ransomware continue to be one of the top threats to the safety of Windows systems worldwide. The latest file-locker based on this project is the Igvm Ransomware, and, unfortunately, there is no free way to undo the damage that it does to files. Victims will only be able to recover their data if they have access to a backup copy of their files. If this option is not available, then they might have limited success with 3rd-party data recovery tools, but they are unlikely to deliver satisfying results.

Threats like the Igvm Ransomware are often delivered to victims through fake downloads, malicious email attachments, malicious ads, or other fraudulent and misleading content. The best way to stay safe and ensure that your files will not be harmed by ransomware is to use an up-to-date antivirus software suite at all times.

But what happens if the Igvm Ransomware is not stopped successfully? It will encrypt media, documents, archives, backups, and many other file types. It uses the '.igvm' suffix to mark their names and finally drops the '_readme.txt' document on the desktop. The latter is a ransom note, which asks the victim to pay $490 to the criminals. It also mentions the emails helpteam@mail.ch and helpmanager@airmail.cc – they can be used to send one file that the attackers are willing to decrypt for free. The addresses can also be used to communicate with the perpetrators, but this is not advisable – they will not help you for free, and paying them is too risky.

Many victims of ransomware attacks have agreed to pay the ransom fee, only to be greeted with another message that asks them for more money. Needless to say, you should not take unnecessary risks by trying to comply with Igvm Ransomware's demands. Instead, use an antivirus tool to make sure that the Igvm Ransomware is removed in full. After this, try out the aforementioned data recovery software and techniques to try and restore access to your files.
