Hhwq Ransomware
The family of ransomware clones based on Djvu ransomware code received its newest member this week. The new ransomware variant is called the Hhwq ransomware.
Hhwq encrypts files on the targeted system, scrambling their contents and leaving them unusable. Once encrypted, files receive the ".hhwq" extension, hence the name that was given to the new threat. This means that a file previously called "program.exe" will turn into "program.exe.hhwq" once it has been encrypted. Affected files include all commonly used media, archive and document file extensions, as well as database files.
