Eegf Ransomware
The Eegf ransomware is the latest entry belonging to the ever-growing Djvu ransomware family that has been discovered by security researchers.
Eegf would encrypt files on the victim system, including most media, archive and document file types, as well as database files. Once encrypted, files are rendered useless and unopenable.
The ransomware would append the ".eefg" extension past the original one, hence its name. This means that a file originally called "sunset.jpg" will turn into "sunset.jpg.eegf" once it has been encrypted.
The ransomware copies the same ransom note used by all Djvu clones, asking for $490 in ransom initially, hiking this to $980 if the ransom is not paid within 72 hours.
