CharacterGeneration is a potentially unwanted program that functions as adware and can show up on your Mac.

CharacterGeneration is a clone that is part of the AdLoad Mac adware family. It can crop up in the Applications folder on your Mac and will act like most other adware apps.

Adware is categorized as a subcategory of potentially unwanted apps, also known as PUAs. The adware will load ads inside your browser of choice, making money for the adware's authors.

Adware will most likely install silently on your system, without proper disclosure and without asking for explicit consent and this is an issue.

The other major problem with adware is that ad-supported applications often source their ads using rogue advertising networks. Rogue advertising may redirect the user to pages that contain questionable content, other potentially unwanted applications, scam or phishing portals.

This should make it obvious why the presence of CharacterGeneration or any other type of adware application on your system is not something you want. If you find CharacterGeneration among your apps, drag it from your Applications folder into your Trash, then empty your Trash.
