What is Cceo Ransomware?
The cybercriminals are releasing new variants of the STOP/Djvu Ransomware family almost daily. The one we will describe this time is named the Cceo Ransomware. The Cceo Ransomware is very similar to other members of this family and does not possess any visible structural modifications or upgrades. However, the Cceo Ransomware shouldn't be underestimated because it is still threatening, and is capable of locking multiple file types, making them inaccessible completely.
What differentiate the Cceo Ransomware from its family members is the file extension it uses to change the encrypted files' names - '.cceo.' When the Cceo Ransomware locks all targeted files, it will deliver its ransom note to the infected system. The ransom message will be delivered in a text file named '_readme.txt.'
The directives left by the CceoRansomware show all the same requisites usually found in the STOP/Djvu variants. Victims should pay $980 to get the decryption key and tool necessary for the restoration of the encrypted files. However, making contact with the attackers within 72 hours, the ransom will supposedly be subjected to a 50% of discount, or $490. Also, the victims are allowed to send a single locked file, which will be decrypted for free so the cybercriminals can prove that they are capable of reverting the damage. Victims can use the email addresses 'support@bestyourmail.ch' and 'datarestorehelp@airmail.cc' as communication channels.
