What is Black Hunt Ransomware?
Black Hunt ransomware is a malicious computer program that encrypts files, renames them, and leaves ransom notes in the form of "#BlackHunt_ReadMe.hta" and "#BlackHunt_ReadMe.txt". It appends each file's name with the victim's ID, sentafe@rape.lol email address, and the ".Black" extension. The ransom notes instruct victims to contact threat actors via the address sentafe@rape.lol or justin@Cyberfear.com in order to recover files.
Ransomware like Black Hunt is usually spread via malicious emails with attachments, pirated/cracked software, and fake software updating tools. Additionally, ransomware can be distributed by Trojans, which are downloaded from unreliable sources. In all cases, cybercriminals aim to trick users into downloading and executing ransomware (or Trojans used to distribute ransomware) by themselves.
Should You Pay The Black Hunt Ransom?
Victims of Black Hunt ransomware are usually instructed to contact threat actors via the email address or a Tor website provided in the ransom note. This allows them to negotiate payment for the decryption key required to restore encrypted files. If victims do not pay the ransom, their data will remain encrypted and inaccessible to them. Threat actors may also threaten to delete or publish files if their ransom demands are not met.
It is important to note that paying the ransom does not guarantee files will be decrypted and restored successfully. Instead, victims of Black Hunt Ransomware should remove the threat using an antimalware resource and then restore any encrypted files from a previous backup.
