The Bbzz ransomware is the latest arrival in a seemingly endless queue of Djvu ransomware clones that keep cropping up overnight.

The ransomware acts as you would expect - it encrypts most files on the victim system, including media, archive, database and document filetypes. Once encrypted, the files receive the ".bbzz" extension appended to them, which also serves as the name of the clone.

That means an encrypted file that was originally called "picture.jpg" will transform into "picture.jpg.bbzz" once encryption completes.

The ransom note is dropped in a "_readme.txt" plain text file and follows the template used by all Djvu clones released in recent memory. Ransom starts at $490 and is doubled if unpaid within 72 hours of encryption.
