Zate Ransomware is nog een Djvu-kloon
Zate ransomware is een nieuwe ransomware-variant die de toch al grote familie van Djvu-klonen uitbreidt.
De nieuwe Djvu-variant versleutelt bestanden en gedraagt zich net als zijn broers en zussen. De Zate ransomware zal databases, documentbestanden, archieven en mediabestanden op het beoogde systeem door elkaar gooien. Uitvoerbare bestanden worden ook versleuteld.
Eenmaal versleuteld, krijgen bestanden de extensie ".zate". Dit zal een bestand genaamd "notes.txt" veranderen in "notes.txt.zate".
De losgeldeis wordt gedeponeerd in een tekstbestand met de naam "_readme.txt". Het briefje vraagt om een losgeld van $ 490, en het losgeld groeit tot $ 980 als het binnen 72 uur onbetaald blijft. De volledige nota gaat als volgt:
