How to Recover Your IRCTC Password If You Forgot It
The Railway department of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) also has made great strides in recent years. There is a number of new systems and processes meant to improve the company's services as well as raise up their class. Perhaps the most critical improvement to the IRCTC's services is that they have massively improved the railway booking system. These days customers of the IRCTC can choose to book tickets online which can be done via computer or just a mobile like a smartphone which everyone has in their pocket these days. Both the computer and phone systems work a bit differently from each other, but the ultimately the goal is the same. However, for most clients, it would be far easier, faster and more convenient to book tickets online on their computers.
Before you can book a train ticket you have to sign up on the page of the IRCTC. To create an account you will be asked to provide a few of your personal details like your name, phone number, and email address. Once you've inputted the appropriate contact info you will be prompted to create a login ID and a password. It's important that you remember your password or you will be locked out of your account. It is possible to restore your password, of course. You will need to go back to the IRCTC website.
How to reset your IRCTC password through the main website
Just like any other website you need to have your user credentials (login ID and password) to enter your account on the IRCTC website. In the case of a forgotten password, the IRCTC can send a new password to the email you used during the registration process. However, to verify your identity the site may ask you for some of the personal details you enter while signing up at the main website. Details like your name or your phone number.
To start the password recovery process you must first click on the "Forgot Password" button on the main website. It's located right below the username, password, and captcha fields. Once you select the Forgot Password link you will be asked for your username or simply your User ID. You will be asked to answer a security question (alliteratively you can enter your mobile number instead). After you enter your username a link will be sent to the email address you entered upon your account creation. Enter your email account, find the email from the IRCTC and click on it. It will take you to a page where you can enter a new password. Once you have chosen a new password you can enter the IRCTC website freely again.
