Freecaptcha.top Uses Vague Adult Content, Spams Annoying Ads
Freecaptcha dot top is a misleading website, set up with a singular purpose - to get annoying and potentially harmful ads in your browser.
Like many similar misleading pages, Freecaptcha dot top uses a vague adult lure to get visitors to play along. When you land on the page, likely after following a rogue ad on another website, you will be faced with a black page and text reading "If you are 18+ click allow".
The obvious implication is that clicking "allow" will get you to some spicy adult content. Of course, there is no real content on the page, adult or otherwise. The lure is there just to get users to interact with the browser's "allow notifications" prompt, in the hopes of getting to the alleged content.
This will only give permission to Freecaptcha dot top to spam the browser with intrusive and annoying ads and pop-ups. A lot of those ads may be sourced from rogue ad networks. This means that the ads may link to unsafe and untrustworthy pages, further misleading sites, and even malware.
To avoid getting in this sort of mess in the first place, simply close your browser tab when an unfamiliar website asks you to allow notifications, especially if the page is also trying to use adult-oriented lures to get you to click.
