Dating-roo.xyz Uses Adult Content to Display Annoying Ads

Dating-roo dot xyz is a misleading page that tried to lure users and get them to allow notifications from the site in their browser of choice.

When a user lands on Dating-roo dot xyz, they are greeted with imagery and banners that are strongly suggestive of a pornographic adult content website.

The trick here is very simple - dangling the promise of free spicy adult content is often enough to get users to click on any prompt without thinking, in the hopes of getting to the spicy bits faster. The website will cause the browser's default "allow notifications" dialog to come up and the user would be expected to click "allow" to get to the supposed adult videos.

Clicking "allow" in this dialog will only cause the website at Dating-roo dot xyz to display annoying ads and pop-ups inside the browser. Given the nature of the fake content advertised on the page, it is safe to assume that a lot of the ads displayed will be related to further adult content and can link to more fake adult pages and video streams, potentially exposing the user to additional threats.

The best way to stay safe from this sort of annoying and misleading page is to simply close the browser tab. If you don't click on any element of the misleading page, you don't risk accidentally allowing notifications and having to suffer the ads that will follow.
