Woody RAT Can Exfiltrate Data
Woody RAT is the name of a newly discovered piece of malware that exhibits a wide range of malicious capabilities.
As the name suggests, Woody is a remote access Trojan or a RAT. This sort of malicious tool is usually intended to infect and infiltrate the target system, then stay hidden on it and fly under the radar as long as possible, spying on the user and potentially stealing data from them as well.
Woody RAT has a wide range of malicious features as well. These include obtaining system name and OS version, gathering data on currently active processes, and checking the availability of antivirus software, among others.
The RAT can also exfiltrate files from the infected system and take screenshots. Woody RAT can also do the reverse - upload files to the victim's computer and execute them, which means it can be used as a gateway to upload much more dangerous and destructive malware.
This type of malicious tool usually needs a fully-featured anti-malware suite to clean and remove completely.
