Watchvideo.pro Uses Free iPhone Scam to Push Ads
Watchvideo dot pro is a website that mixes deceptive components of scams and misleading websites. The entire purpose of the site is to coax users into allowing push notifications on their browsers so that the page can push ad pop-ups through this service.
When a user lands on Watchvideo dot pro, they will be presented with a large and colorful image, advertising a free and expensive iPhone unit that the visitor allegedly won. Of course, there is no real prize to be won or claimed here. The page simply uses the shiny phone as bait, to get users excited and clicking.
The plan is to convince visitors to click on the "allow notifications" dialog box that shows up when the website loads. Doing this will cause a stream of pop-up ads to display in the browser currently used. Those ads can be sourced through rogue ad networks and may contain links to malicious, misleading, or dubious pages. Some of the links can also refer the user to adult or questionable content.
The best thing you can do when you land on a random domain name and the page asks you to allow notifications is to simply close your browser immediately. If you do not interact with any elements on the page, you don't risk getting unwanted pop-ups in your browser.
