TwinValley Mac Adware Pushes Annoying Pop-Ups
TwinValley is the name of an ad-supported app, also known as adware. TwinValley is one of the numerous clones that all belong to the broader family of AdLoad adware.
You usually wouldn't spot TwinValley among your installed application because the adware app has an icon designed to blend among your other apps. It should be noted that all AdLoad clones use the same icon - a looking glass inside a colored circle. Their names are also similarly generated - they are all named using a randomly chosen pair of words that will usually make no sense together.
Adware or ad-supported software works by delivering ads to your browser and generating revenue for its makers in the proces. The issue with this practice is that a lot of the time adware will partner up with rogue ad networks and deliver ads sourced from them. This means that those ads may link to potentially unwanted app installers, questionable content or misleading websites.
This makes it easy to see why you don't want to keep any sort of adware apps installed on your Mac, as the potential threat from rogue ads displayed by the adware app is very real.
Thankfully, removing TwinValley or similar AdLoad clones is easy - just drag and drop the app onto your Trash, them empty Trash and you should be set.
