Research Alts Browser Extension Pushes Ads

Research Alts is the name of a browser extension that shares a lot of similarities and behaviors with adware.

While in theory Research Alts is supposed to help users find additional search query results. Why someone would need that in an age of multiple universally established search engines, some of them with narrow specialization, is a bit of a mystery.

What the extension does, however, is something quite different. Research Alts will act like adware, injecting ads in pages you browse or causing ad pop-ups to appear.

The issue with this sort of behavior is not limited to just having to suffer through unwanted additional ads. Some of those ads can link to misleading websites, potentially unwanted programs and other questionable content.

This sort of behavior is never desirable and browser extensions that exhibit similar behavior should be removed from your system. In most cases, this process is fairly straightforward but some cases might need to be taken care of using anti-malware software.
