Beware of the 'Your Device Apple iPhone Has Been Hacked' Pop-Up Scam

A new mobile scam is targeting iPhone users. The scam is being promoted through misleading websites that cause pop-ups to appear on your phone.

If you land on a site hosting the scam, you will see a message telling you that your device has been "hacked". This fake threat is garnered with more scary and fake warnings about all your social network accounts being compromised if you don't take immediate action.

Remember that no online web page can obtain this sort of information about your device and every single time you see a similar scary message, those messages will always be some sort of a fake or a scam.

If you tap the button provided inside the scam pop-up, you will be taken to the installer of a malicious app that will cause many further issues with your phone and might actually result in data compromise, unlike the empty threats of the scam.

Remember you should never trust any iPhone application that is not distributed through the official Apple app store and should always be on the lookout for similar misleading pages and scams.
