WEB.DE Mailer Daemon Spam Contains A Malicious Link
Some users have expressed concerns over messages that appeared strange to them and caused some concern.
The message in question originates from "WEB.DE Mailer Daemon" and states that mail delivery failed, with the original message being bounced back to the sender, along with the notification of non-delivery.
Mailer daemons are used exactly for this purpose - to inform a sender when their message did not get through, usually for various technical reasons and issues.
At least one user complained about those emails being sent to their inbox on a daily basis, which is not normal behavior. While the mailer daemon should send the original notification of non-delivery, there shouldn't be daily copies of the same message.
The message is especially suspicious as mailer daemon messages should not contain hotlinks in them, and the instance of this particular spammy email claiming to be from the WEB.DE mailer daemon does contain a link, which is likely unsafe.
If you find that this sort of email keeps coming back to your inbox often, you should simply block the sender in your email client of choice to shield your inbox from any further spam and potentially harmful links contained in it.
