Is VideoSearches a Safe Extension?
VideoSearches is a misleading browser extension that may be installed without your permission. Many users end up with intrusive apps like this one on their device because they are not being careful when interacting with random downloads and unknown installers. Browser hijackers like VideoSearches are often spread with the use of misleading ads and promises, fake downloads, or software bundles. The latter is a very peculiar technique, which allows legitimate software installers to deploy additional software like VideoSearches. While the installers do ask for permission to install VideoSearches, they may often do so in a misleading manner, or by concealing the true purpose of VideoSearches.
This browser hijacker works by replacing the default new tab page and search engine of popular Web browsers – typically Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. It does this to promote the Web pages Portal.video-searches.com and Feed.video-searches.com. Both of these host an identical search service, which claims to be able to help users discover reliable results, and entertaining videos.
In reality, the VideoSearches websites do not work as well as you'd expect them to. Their search service may often show unreliable results, and it may often prioritize the display of advertisements or sponsored content. If any of the two websites above are seen regularly in your browser, then you are probably dealing with the browser hijacker in word.
Remove the VideoSearches hijacker by using an up-to-date security scanner. Keep in mind that once you eliminate the intruder, you may need to manually restore your browser's settings.
