Venolock Ransomware is a New Zeppelin Clone

Venolock ransomware is a new variant of the ZEPPELIN ransomware family.

The new strain behaves as expected, encrypting files on the targeted system and leaving them unreadable. Once encrypted, files receive a new complex extension that consists of the ".vn2" string and the victim's alphanumeric ID. The encryption process will turn a file called "photo.jpg" into "photo.jpg.vn2.[victim ID]".

The ransomware will affect most media files, documents, archives, executables and databases.

Once the encryption finishes, Venolock drops its ransom note inside a file called "ALL YOUR FILES ARE ENCRYPTED.txt", which is placed on the desktop. The full note goes as follows:

ALL YOUR FILES ARE ENCRYPTED
