Remove Sapphire Miner

A multi-purpose Trojan cryptocurrency miner is being sold and actively promoted on multiple hacker forums. The threat, called Sapphire Miner, claims to be undetectable by antivirus engines, but we assure you that it is not true. While most Trojan miners focus on mining Monero, Sapphire Miner's creators claim that it is able to utilize different algorithms in order to utilize different mining hardware. Victims of the Sapphire Miner might have their system's resources harvested to mine for Ergo, Ethereum, or Monero, or Ethereum Classic. The criminals are asking for a subscription of €75/month for anyone who wants to use their malware.

According to the advertisement, the Sapphire Miner is able to conceal itself from various tools in order to minimize the chance of being detected. For example, it can temporarily suspend the mining task whenever it detects that the Task Manager or another process viewer is opened. This way, victims will not notice the malicious process consuming 100% of CPU resources.

The risks of having the Sapphire Miner on your device are many. It will ruin the system's performance by utilizing all available CPU resources, therefore hindering the performance of games and apps. It can also cause your system's cooling to fail quickly since it will constantly run under full load. If you suspect that a miner like the Sapphire Miner is present on your system, you should use an up-to-date antivirus tool to ensure its removal.
