Remove Protected-Browsing

Protected-Browsing is a misleading browser extension for Google Chrome. Users might come across it because of advertisements saying that it will help browse the Web in a safer manner. The creators of Protected-Browsing are certainly not able to protect you while you are online. Their add-on's description seems to state that Protected-Browsing will help warn you of potentially dangerous Web destinations, so that you can avoid those. However, instead of doing any of this, Protected-Browsing introduces only one change – replacing your default new tab page and search engine with the Web page Protected-browisng.xyz.

The latter hosts a basic search engine, which does allow you to search the Web. However, it certainly does not have the ability to hide malicious results, or detect dangerous pages. What it is able to is to display sponsored ads and content whenever you engage with the search feature. This means that Protected-Browsing is tricking users into generating ad revenue for its creators. We consider Protected-Browsing to be a browser hijacker, which relies on misleading promises and prompts to hijack browser settings. If your browser is also redirecting you to Protected-browsing.xyz regularly, you should use an up-to-date security tool to identify and eliminate the hijacker. Once the intruder is gone, you should be able to easily restore your browser's configuration.
