What does the NFT Tab Browser Extension do?

NFT Tab is the name of a rogue extension for Chrome that will function as a browser hijacker that promotes a fake search engine.

NFT Tab is advertised as a convenient tool that gives you easy access to non-fungible token collections, trending items and bookmark capabilities. What it does not tell you is that it will also use the srchingveno dot com search engine, which is in nature a fake search engine.

The promised functionality of seeing trending NFTs appears to be there when you open a new tab in your browser. However, using the search box included in there will simply funnel your search through srchingveno dot com and end up on a Bing results page for the respective query.

This sort of behavior is typical for fake search engines, as they cannot generate their own results. Similar fake search engines are often distributed through potentially unwanted programs and may collect your search queries to re-sell this data to third parties, usually advertisers.

Unless you are adamant about your interest in purchasing someone's doodles for hundreds or thousands of dollars, you would probably be better off without keeping NFT Tab installed in your browser and without using its search engine.
