What does the Multiple Account Rogue Extension do?
Multiple Account is a rogue browser extension. According to its description, it allows users to store multiple cookies for the same site inside their browser, allowing to switch accounts for a particular website more easily, without entering everything again.
What the description does not tell you is why the extension also needs permission to modify the contents of the pages you visit. In addition to its advertised functionality, Multiple Account also acts as adware. The extension can cause pages to open and cause ads to display, either in pages you browse or as pop-ups.
A lot of similar rogue extensions that act as adware will work together with rogue ad networks. This means those ads you see displayed while browsing may link to questionable locations, unsafe pages, scams or phishing sites and misleading pages.
Your best choice if you find Multiple Account inside your browser would be to remove the extension. This way you will at least minimize any future exposure to potentially harmful ads it may display inside your browser.
