Stop maloprotect.xyz Ads
Maloprotect dot xyz is a rogue website that attempts to scare visitors into thinking their computer is infected with malware.
When a visitor lands on maloprotect dot xyz, usually after clicking on a link in an ad or pop-up served by a rogue advertising network, they are greeted with a scary image. The website shows an image of what is skinned to look like the interface of a popular antivirus application. The fake message reads:
Security alert
You've visited illegal infected website
You have visited unsafe site with illegal content
Your PC is at risk of being infected by viruses
To continue browsing safely - perform an antivirus scan
This fake message is of course a scam. There is no way for a legitimate website to know what other sites you visited, much less know that you have been exposed to malware.
In addition to the fake malware message, the maloprotect dot xyz page will also ask the user to allow push notifications. This will lead to the browser starting to display pop-up ads originating from potentially dangerous sources and exposing the user to further malware, questionable content and unsafe pages.
There are a lot of similar websites that attempt to scare the user and get them to act impulsively. The best way to deal with a similar page if you land on it is to simply close the browser tab that contains it and navigate away.
