Jegdex Scam
Jegdex.com is an illicit cryptocurrency trading platform currently being promoted through an elaborate scam on various social media platforms. Utilizing deepfake technology or voice-dubbed videos, scammers impersonate renowned personalities such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, and Drake, enticing fans into depositing Bitcoin onto the fraudulent site.
The scam operates by disseminating misleading videos across platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Facebook. In these videos, the deepfaked celebrities endorse a purported Bitcoin giveaway collaboration with Jegdex.com.
They provide viewers with detailed instructions to register on the site and input a promotional code, like "CR7" or "Tiktok11", to supposedly receive free Bitcoin funds credited to their account. However, individuals who enter these codes upon registration see a balance of approximately 0.31 BTC reflected on their Jegdex dashboard. Yet, when attempting to withdraw these funds, a message prompts them to first make a minimum deposit of 0.005 BTC to "activate" withdrawal capabilities.
Fake Celebrity Endorsements on Social Media
This deposit requirement deceives unsuspecting users into sending real Bitcoin payments, which the scammers promptly abscond with. Contrary to the claims made, the Jegdex platform and the purported celebrity-endorsed crypto giveaway are entirely fictitious.
In truth, Jegdex is a fabricated trading platform created solely to collect deposits into the scammers' wallets. Once a significant sum has been amassed, the site vanishes, leaving victims with no means to retrieve their funds.
Exploiting the public's trust in figures such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, and Drake, the scammers lend an aura of legitimacy to the false narrative that viewers can obtain free Bitcoin. However, the reality is a well-orchestrated scam designed to pilfer cryptocurrency deposits.
